The Block Is Back: What We're Watching Out For (And What We Learnt Last Season)

It's winter again, which means here at Protecta, we're watching the calendar as closely as the tradies on site are. Why? Not just because of the weather, but because The Block is back, and once again our products will be doing the quiet, unglamorous work behind some of the most dramatic room reveals on Australian television.

Before we get stuck into what we're watching out for on The Block this season, we thought we’d look back at what we learned from last year. 

Season 21 took the show to Daylesford. We ran a weekly Protecta Tips series based on our product usage throughout the show, tracking the room-by-room schedule and translating it into practical, relevant on-site advice. 

Across that series, we covered:

- Rumpus Week and Threshold Protection, showing how to protect floors and doorway thresholds

- Kitchen Week, where the drama on screen was matched by very real risk to expensive finishes underfoot.

- Mud Week - the notoriously chaotic stretch of any Block season, where weather and fatigue collide

- Back of House Week, giving some love to the hallways, laundries and garages that rarely get the glossy treatment but often see the most daily punishment

- Backyard and Front Yard Week, with a landscaping-specific angle for the outdoor build

This year, as always, we're not able to say too much before the season airs - the build is under wraps, and we like to let the show do the reveals (lol). But there are a few categories we know will come into play at some point this season, simply because they always do. 

Temporary surface protection: Whatever floors, benchtops and other finishes go into this season's builds, they'll need protecting from day one right through to the final walkthrough. It's the workhorse of Protecta’s product offering, there in every episode.

Dust and noise control. Renovation shows and busy sites go hand in hand with mess and noise, and managing both properly is what allows contestants (and real tradies) to keep working safely and keep neighbours onside.

Site protection more broadly. From walkways to the general chaos of moving materials and trades through a tight site, there's always a category of protection quietly doing its job in the background of every build. 

We'll be watching each week to see where these categories show up, and we hope you’ll follow along with us. 

The Block gives us a wonderful opportunity to see our products in action, exactly as they are intended to be used - under pressure, on a real deadline and protecting real finishes.
