Protecta Tips: Multi-Layer Solution for Protecting Curing Concrete

Protecta Tips: Multi-Layer Solution for Protecting Curing Concrete

Fresh concrete is vulnerable. During curing, slabs can be damaged by foot traffic, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, dropped tools, material storage, moisture loss and surface contamination. These risks can lead to surface marking, dry lines, uneven curing and costly rework.

Protecta's multi-layer protection solution is designed to protect curing concrete from impact, abrasion and site traffic while supporting proper moisture control.

The Three-Layer Protection Solution

Layer 1: Protecta Geo Breathe (GTF2050)

Laid directly over the slab, this breathable layer allows the concrete to breathe during curing. Do not tape this layer.

Layer 2: Protecta Builders Film

Installed over Protecta Geo Breathe, Protecta Builders Film is overlapped and secured with Protecta Cloth Tape PCT48. This creates a sealed barrier that limits moisture penetration.

Layer 3: Protecta Board XTRA

Available in 3 mm, 5 mm or 8 mm options, this top layer provides high impact resistance. Secure with Protecta Cloth Tape (PCT72) for internal use or Protecta XTRA Tape (PXT60) for external use. It allows controlled access over curing concrete during the construction phase.

Why It Matters

  • Suitable for short or long term projects
  • High impact protection in active work zones
  • Allows access without exposing the slab to direct damage
  • Reduces the risk of dry lines and surface defects

Always consult the concreter before covering concrete areas.

This is a practical system built for real site conditions. It protects the slab, reduces risk and helps keep the project moving.

If you require project-specific advice, a Protecta Project Protection Specialist can attend the site to assess your requirements.
